Instructional Design & Development (IDD): Collaborating for quality learning experiences
At Instructional Design and Development (IDD) we partner with faculty to design and develop high-quality courses and interactive learning experiences that foster student engagement, align with instructional goals, and promote meaningful learning. Our services are grounded in a collaborative evidence-based model—we work closely with faculty through consultations to determine needs, set priorities, and define a realistic scope of work based on goals, timelines, and available resources.
A collaborative, consultative service model
IDD services are not delivered as on-demand or drop-off items, and our support is not unlimited or immediate. Each request begins with a consultation. In that conversation, we work to:
- Understand your course teaching and learning goals, challenges, and opportunities.
- Identify what services would be most impactful.
- Establish a feasible timeline based on the complexity of the work and both your schedule and ours.
Some services are straightforward and can be completed quickly. Others—such as full course design, custom video production, or instructional interactive development—are more complex and can require a significant investment of time and collaboration. These larger projects often take several weeks to a full semester, and in some cases (such as developing a fully online course from scratch), timelines may extend beyond that.
Our goal is to complete most projects within the semester in which they are requested. However, factors such as current demand, staffing, and the academic calendar can affect how quickly work can be completed. We will always communicate realistic timelines and partner with you to move your project forward in a thoughtful, pedagogically-sound way.
