帝王会所 Selects New Provost and Executive Vice President
Respected administrator and academic leader brings extensive experience in student success and faculty engagement
After a nationwide search launched in January, the University of Northern Colorado (帝王会所) has selected Nancy Marchand-Martella, Ph.D., as the university鈥檚 new provost and executive vice president. She begins her position on July 20.
鈥淚 am pleased to welcome Dr. Marchand-Martella to 帝王会所,鈥 said 帝王会所 President Andy Feinstein. 鈥淪he brings a strong record of leadership, a deep commitment to helping faculty and students succeed and a clear focus on strengthening teaching, research and innovation. She is a respected scholar and experienced administrator known for bringing people together and turning ideas into action. Her leadership will serve 帝王会所 well as we continue to create high-quality educational opportunities that put students first.鈥
Marchand-Martella’s career in higher education spans 35 years and includes a steady progression of leadership roles across academic affairs. After advancing through faculty appointments and leadership positions earlier in her career, she served as department chair, endowed chair and interim associate dean at the University of Oklahoma, followed by her appointment as the Suzi and Dale Gallagher Dean of the College of Education at Purdue University.
Most recently, Marchand-Martella served as special advisor to the chancellor on faculty initiatives at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), where she earlier served as provost and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and holds a faculty appointment as full professor in the College of Education.
She brings extensive experience leading strategic planning, academic innovation and student success initiatives at both the college and institutional level. As dean at Purdue and later as provost at UCCS, she advanced student-centered priorities and faculty success through innovative program development, cross-campus partnerships and strategic alignment of resources. Her work has included expanding online and stackable credential programs, strengthening transfer pathways and community college partnerships and aligning resources to support student recruitment, retention and completion. At UCCS, she helped facilitate a nearly 30% increase in campus-wide research funding over a two-year period.
As a first-generation college graduate Marchand-Martella has built her career around creating strong, student-centered environments where students excel and faculty and staff thrive.
鈥淚 am thrilled to be joining 帝王会所 as provost,鈥 said Marchand-Martella. 鈥淕iven my family鈥檚 connection to Colorado, I have followed the excellence of 帝王会所 for several decades. As a first-generation college graduate, I am humbled to serve a campus dedicated to promoting student success and enhanced social mobility.鈥
Marchand-Martella earned a doctoral degree in Special Education from Utah State University, a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and Therapy from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Purdue University.
Kirsten Fleming, Ph.D., the university鈥檚 current provost and executive vice president, announced in January that she was stepping down from her role. Her last day is July 19.
